Again this year, our Newsletter and its authors have won a number of awards in the Bulletin Editors' Contest of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (E.F.M.L.S.) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (A.F.M.S.) covering publications in 2002. The E.F.M.L.S. awards were based on submissions from 27 societies in the Northeastern U.S.

Again this year, our Newsletter and its authors have won a number of awards - both nationally and regionally - in the Bulletin Editors' Contest of the E.F.M.L.S. / A.F.M.S. covering publications in 1998. We'd like to thank Maria Vogt for all her efforts in submitting our 1998 publications for award consideration.

The Newsletter itself, and its Editor, Donald Phillips, won an award in the Small Bulletins Category.

This year, we're happy to announce that two of our authors have won trophy awards from the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (A.F.M.S.), the national society to which our Society belongs, as well as First Place Awards in the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies (E.F.M.L.S.). The E.F.M.L.S. awards are based on submissions of 21 societies in the Northeastern U.S.

The New York Paleontological Society's special annual publication Spirifer, Maria Vogt, Editor, (volume 1, spring 1997) has just been awarded second prize in the category of Special Publications by the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (A.F.M.S.). This national award was received in competition with submissions from many paleontological and mineralogical societies around the country.
